New Duo Project with Nadishana

Together with my dear friend, the Russian Multi-Instrumentalist Vladiswar Nadishana, we started to work on a new Duo program.

Nadishana will be featured on my upcoming Solo CD/DVD with hang and handpan music, and we will record a full Duo CD later this year. Check out the first video of the new project, “the Voice of the Fallen Angels”, a piece for hang and handpans.

Hang (Drum) tutorial – 7/8 on the PanArt or Handpan

This tutorial teaches some possibilities to play 7/8 patterns on a handpan. (PanArt Hang (drum), SpB, Halo, BellArt Bells, etc.)

In the first video the different patterns are explained, and in the second video you can see a composition based on those patterns.

The instrument in this video is an SpB made in Russia in F Integral tuning. Unfortunately I can not help you getting one of these instruments. Most handpans are more or less difficult to obtain, or have waiting lists. If you are looking for more info on how to acquire a PanArt Hang drum, Halo, SpB, Bells, Caisa or other handpan, check out the forum at http://www.handpan.org.

Udu DVD “Advanced Udu” released

This tutorial video for the African clay pot drum Udu was just released and is available in the online-shop. This time the advanced instructional DVD comes first, the beginner one will follow hopefully later this year. It features techniques and rhythms from the Indian Ghatam, teaches you traditional patterns and playing styles, but also gives you the tools to create your own. Besides that it also includes a lot of material from other drumming traditions and demonstrates some of the countless possibilities on this amazing drum.
